Evaluating how long landslide dams may last in the landscape
Objectives:
Generate predictive catchment-scale models based on the catchment and river/stream morphology and geotechnical properties of the source materials to evaluate the likelihood of dam formation during earthquakes, and if formed, the probability of failure
Test relationships (from 1.) against detailed geotechnical models of natural dam breach mechanisms and case studies of past and recent dam breaches
Create empirical and numerical relationships to allow the rapid assessment of landslide dam longevity and downstream hazard, post formation
