Quantifying post-earthquake landslide triggering and reactivation thresholds from ground shaking, rain and time.
Objectives:
To quantify potential failure mechanisms in failed and partially failed slopes following the Kaikōura earthquake during different rainfall and aftershock events using specialist laboratory tests.
To develop post-earthquake regional statistical and physics-based models (incorp. results from 1.) to quantify landslide severity at different magnitudes of rain amount and duration, over time after the event.
To generate a regional-scale approach/method to identify potentially hazardous cracks, post a major earthquake.
