This paper presents a novel, satellite-based, interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) approach to detect slow-moving landslide velocity differences before and after the 2016 Mw 7.8 Kaikōura earthquake. Twenty-one, large, slow-moving landslides were detected and studied. The results reveal that on average, post-seismic velocity will decay by 90% after 3.9 years after the earthquake and reach approximately the pre-seismic velocity.
